Kohima College bids farewell to English HOD

KOHIMA, DECEMBER 13 (MExN): Kohima College bid farewell to Moanungla Kevichusa, Associate Professor and HOD (retd), Department of English on December 12. 

In keeping with SOP, a small farewell programme was organized by the college in appreciation of her 35 years of service. 

She had shouldered many responsibilities during her term of service, some of which were Member, Governing Board, Kohima College; Member, Advisory Board, Kohima College; one of the longest serving General Secretaries of the Kohima College Teachers Association; IQAC Coordinator, Kohima Collegel.

She also initiated the Naga Writers Speak Series, an annual talk programme, in 2015, with noted Naga writers as speakers.

She was also actively involved in extension services including being Member, Board of Under Graduate Studies (BUGS), Nagaland University; Member, Branch Executive Committee (BEC), Family Planning Association, Nagaland (May 2012-16), and Honorary Secretary (2016 till date); Member, State Level Selection Committee for Governor’s Award (Literature) till date.

She also established the Nagaland division of Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) Regional Centre as its first Regional Director i/c 2000 and served till 2002 on deputation.

Maonungla in her speech shared glimpses of her thirty-five years of experiences with the college and faculty, and expressed her gratitude to all for enriching her life in many special ways. 

Dr. Ralimongla, Principal, KCK, extended her appreciation to Moanungla and her family; and stated that she had been a “torch bearer, a guiding light and a source of strength” to the college, and that she has encouraged all by her good example and work ethics. 

This was followed by a series of speeches from the HODs of the different departments acknowledging her dedication, professionalism, her many sacrifices and contributions to the college, and the deep bond of friendship forged. The programme was chaired by Thinuokhrienuo, Vice Principal, KCK.
